Glass has been a fascination all my life; I began collecting glass art and decided I would like to create it myself. Having a Fine Arts degree background, I started with a stained glass business, and eventually transitioned to fused or kiln-formed glass pieces during the pandemic. Fusing glass offers such incredible versatility in shape, form, and hue, and now I mainly make fused glass in my two kilns.

Exquisite Renegade includes jewelry created from molds of my collection of both original and replica grand tour intaglios. Each charm is individually handcrafted by me using precious metal clay, followed by kiln-firing and polishing. These charms have been described as wearable pieces of art!
Chains and components vary in style and material, including aged brass, 12k gold-plated steel, and antiqued pewter. These components are sourced through a wholesaler and designed and assembled by me. I will offer a variety of necklaces, some rings, earrings, and bracelets.

What is a grand tour intaglio?

Back in the 18th and 19th centuries, the grand tour was a rite of passage for the elite once they completed their university education. The grand tour took them throughout Europe and often expanded upon their university education by allowing them to study the language, art, and history of each country. Because photography had not yet been invented, skilled intaglio artists were commissioned to create small mementos from each location, often displayed in a book, for the traveler to show friends and family once they returned home—proof of their grand tour!

My love affair with oxidizing metals began almost 20 years ago in Austin, TX after making a pair of earrings from scrap copper from another art project. After a few major surgeries, I decided that life is too short to do something you don’t passionately love. House of Kerri was born during my recovery and I’ve never looked back! Kari Hall is a contemporary encaustic painter based in Sugar Land, TX. Over the past decade, Hall has focused on developing a body of encaustic work, taking workshops with Shawna Moore, Mark Russell, Jenny Learner, and Kim Bernard. With collectors from across the nation, Hall paints memories of light in the landscape using beeswax, fire, and colored pigment. Her work is about hope — finding beauty in the moment and seeking light at the horizon. Through the framework of landscape, Hall paints expressively to unearth meaningful emotions.

Guided by intuition and a deep reflection on a sense of place, Hall applies soft, luminous layers of melted beeswax, damar resin, and colored pigment to wood panels, building depth and texture. Each layer of encaustic medium is fused with a torch before the next is added. Through carving, smoothing, and melting, unique elements of light and color emerge. With its dimensional surface and natural fragrance of organic beeswax, the paintings engage the senses of touch, smell, and sight, fostering a deeper connection to the spirit.

Madison Mondshine is a contemporary artist currently living and working in Austin, Texas. Her art practice is a conversation between our immediately perceived reality and the greater unseen mystery of our lived experience. She aims to strike some kind of balance between the two, to land upon a central celestial point of joy and ease.

She received her BFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin in 2019 and was a participant in the Palazzo del Gatto Artist-in-Residence Program in Casaprota, Italy (2019), and the The Museum of Loss & Renewal Artist-in-Residence Program in Collemacchia, Italy (2023).

Born and raised in the culinary hub of Pakistan, I developed an interest in cooking specialty savory foods at home. However, I did not have much interest in baking sweets and desserts. I came to the US to join my husband almost two decades ago. His career took the family from the US east coast to Abu Dhabi, and then back to Richmond, TX.
It was in Abu Dhabi that my young 6 years old daughter became obsessed with baking shows on the Food Network that intrigued her little mind about questions like: incorporating blueberries in a vanilla cake recipe, or what would happen if you add more baking powder to a recipe etc.

I was not a baker myself at that time, but that didn’t stop me from trying to learn in order to satisfy my little one’s curiosity. What was initially started as a Mother-daughter bonding experience, later turned out to be a great learning tool for me as I was able to elevate my level of understanding and comfort with baking concepts. Inspired by Ace of Cakes baker Duff Goldman, my daughter and I began testing recipes and trying new things in their home kitchen. That was when I fell in love with baking, despite still claiming that I do not have a sweet tooth of my own.

After a few years of experimenting and perfecting my recipes in my own kitchen, I decided to open M’s Cakes & Bakes in 2017. I now provide a wide variety of desserts, from custom cakes of all sizes to French pastries. I am currently serving my customers around the Richmond and greater Houston area.

My practice is heavily influenced by childhood memories learning how to shepherd my family’s small farm in Louisiana. The characters in the work use humor and play to memorialize the animal’s spirits that once lived there. Using reclaim clay fired to cone 5, I use hand building techniques to make sculptural forms and wheel throwing techniques to create food safe functional ware. The carved details are embellished with Amaco under glaze, and then clear coated with a gloss mid fire finish.
