Goldsmith | Stone Setter | Traditional Metalsmith
Anthony S. Baxter is a highly skilled goldsmith and stone setter specializing in hand-fabricated, high-karat gold jewelry, integrating historical techniques with contemporary precision. With a background in multiple disciplinary engineering, he brings a meticulous, technical approach to the art of metalwork, ensuring that every piece is not only structurally sound but also aesthetically profound.
Anthony’s work is deeply rooted in ancient craftsmanship, drawing inspiration from Etruscan granulation, Byzantine opulence, and the hand-engraved detailing of Renaissance and Victorian jewelry. His signature style blends high-karat gold, palladium, and shakudo with hand-engraved and star-set gemstones, creating pieces that feel like unearthed relics from a lost era.
Rejecting mass production, he believes that true artistry lies in the ability to both design and execute a piece by hand. His jewelry is meticulously fabricated using traditional methods—no CAD, no casting shortcuts—just skill, fire, and time-honored techniques.
Anthony has studied under master goldsmith Kent Raible but is primarily self-taught, leveraging his engineering background and technical expertise. His work has been showcased in juried exhibitions in the USA.
Beyond his personal practice, Anthony is an avid gem hunter and collector, sourcing Montana sapphires, Royston turquoise, and Lake Superior agates to incorporate into his designs. He is currently developing his brand, A6B metalXstone, where he creates one-of-a-kind, heirloom-quality jewelry for collectors who appreciate the intersection of history, craftsmanship, and innovation.
Philosophy & Approach:
“Jewelry is more than an ornament—it is a connection to history, a testament to skill, and a statement of artistry. Every piece I create is an echo of the past, forged by hand, meant to be worn for generations.”
